Open Role (1 position): Leader Polymer Development Team

Job Description:

We are seeking a talented Leader for the Polymer Development Team to join and lead our young and dynamic team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in polymer chemistry and materials science, with a passion for innovation and leveraging biology. This role is critical for the growth of the company, focusing on building and expanding our research function while ensuring safety and fostering an exciting work environment.

The position will be based at our new Research Centre at the Brightlands Campus in Geleen and is on-site for 4 days/week minimum.

Responsibilities:

Lead the research function and team, ensuring lab safety.

  • Define research priorities and resource planning with the CPO, including designing the technology roadmap, planning, and team expansion.

  • Develop and execute an IP strategy to build a robust IP portfolio.

  • Research and develop novel polymer materials with tailored properties based on bio-sourced molecules to meet specific and complex application requirements.

  • Design and execute experiments to optimize material formulations, processing methods, and performance characteristics.

  • Characterize polymer materials using analytical techniques such as spectroscopy, microscopy, thermal analysis, and mechanical testing.

  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including R&D, engineering, and manufacturing, to translate research findings into commercial products.

  • Stay abreast of the latest advancements in polymer science and materials technology to identify opportunities for innovation and improvement.

  • Contribute to intellectual property development through patent applications and scientific publications.

  • Provide technical support to internal and external stakeholders, including customers and partners, to address material-related inquiries and challenges.

●      Ensure compliance with safety regulations and best practices in the laboratory environment.

Qualifications:

●      PhD or Master's degree in Polymer Science, Materials Science, Chemical Engineering, or a related field, with an affinity for biotech, AI, and ML applications.

  • Proven leadership experience in polymer synthesis, characterization, and processing.

  • Strong knowledge of polymer chemistry, structure-property relationships, and materials characterization techniques.

  • Hands-on experience with laboratory equipment and analytical instruments.

  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced, multidisciplinary global environment.

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

  • Creative problem-solving abilities and a results-oriented mindset.

●      Prior experience in industrial research and development is a plus.

Job Description:

We are seeking a talented Polymer Process Development Scientist specializing in materials to join our young and dynamic team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in polymer chemistry and materials science, with a passion for innovation and a desire to contribute to the development of next-generation sustainable specialty materials.

The position will be based at our new Research Centre at the Brightlands Campus in Geleen. Position requires being at the lab 3 days a week and during scaling if needed travel to manufacturing sites in Europe, US and Asia.

Responsibilities:

  • Research and develop novel polymer process development with tailored properties to meet specific application requirements.

  • Design and execute experiments to optimize polymerization process, most efficient formulations, new processing methods, and obtain the right performance.

  • Work together with CROs and CMOs for scaling (at different sites in the world)

  • Characterize polymer materials using analytical techniques such as spectroscopy, microscopy, thermal analysis, and mechanical testing.

  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including R&D, engineering, and manufacturing, to translate research findings into larger scale production.

  • Stay abreast of the latest advancements in polymer science and bio inspired materials technology to identify opportunities for innovation and improvement.

  • Contribute to intellectual property development through patent applications and scientific publications.

  • Provide technical support to internal and external stakeholders, including customers and partners, to address material-related inquiries and challenges.

  • Ensure compliance with safety regulations and best practices in the laboratory environment.

Qualifications:

  • Master's or Bachelor’s degree in Polymer Science, Chemical Engineering, or a related field. PhD candidates are welcome to apply also.

  • Proven experience in polymer synthesis, characterization, and processing.

  • Strong knowledge of polymer chemistry, structure-property relationships, and materials characterization techniques.

  • Hands-on experience with laboratory equipment and analytical instruments.

  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced, multidisciplinary global environment.

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
